Turkish Language and Literature (Master Degree)
Introduction
The Department of Turkish Language and Literature aims
to provide a comprehensive education in Turkish
Language, literature culture and folklore. The graduate
program has been designed in accordance with the most
recent international trends in literary studies.
Students who are admitted to the graduate program
undertake comprehensive instruction in a variety of
fields which include Turkish linguistic, literature and
the developing history of the language itself. Students
will also be introduced to proper research methods in
order to prepare them for independent research. Students
who undertake the department’s graduate program will be
suited to employment in the teaching world, in either
the private or public sectors which involve cultural
activity, in the publishing field or (due to their
knowledge of Ottoman history language and script) in
archive, library and research institutions.
Entry Requirements
Any candidate, having graduated from a relevant 4-year
program, has the right to apply for the program.
Students from Turkey are required to have a minimum LES
score of 45 or above.
Career
Prospects
Graduates of the department holding a PhD
degree in Turkish Language and Literature are entitled
to be appointed as Turkish language and literature
specialists at every level in the Ministry of Education
and in the private teaching institutions. Besides, if
they fulfill the requirements, they can be employed as
academics by state and private universities.

Candidates are required to apply to the Registrar’s
Office by completing and submitting the ‘Application
Form for Graduate Studies’ attaching to it necessary
documents specified in the application form within the
dates of application announced.
