Turkish Language and Literature
SCHOLARSHIPS
Every
academic year two students are granted a full
scholarship by the university, provided they have chosen
the department in the ÖSS (Student Selection Exam) and
are placed in the program by the ÖSS. In addition,
students are given academic scholarships during their
education at EMU provided they maintain High Honors.
Successful students receive deductions from their
tuition fees as of second semester, and these deductions
are calculated according to the rates spaced in the
university budget.
FACILITIES OFFERED
The
departmental library and the computer facilities have a
significant role in education in the department. The
library holds numerous copies of books and periodicals
in Turkish language and literature, and the number of
different journals to which we have subscribed is
continually increasing. The library also has
subscriptions to many foreign journals in the field as
the university attaches great importance to academic
enrichment.
There is
a PC in each departmental office, and students can make
use of the terminals in the faculty's computer
laboratories.
ACTIVITIES
A
variety of academic and cultural activities are carried
out in the department, and thus a very dynamic
environment is created for the students to pursue their
education. There are two different student clubs, each
under the close supervision of two faculty members. One
is the Literature Club while the other is called The
Center for Research on Turkish Cypriot Folk Culture.
These clubs organize meetings and seminars to help
students all up their free time with beneficial
activities, and hence create a very supportive learning
environment. Students can also participate or take an
active role in the 50 or more clubs that function at
different locations on campus
