Thomas D. Svatos, Ph.D
Assistant Professor of Music
Thomas D. Svatos was born near Chicago in 1969. He was educated at Northern Illinois University, where he studied Composition, Double Bass, Music History, and German. He continued his studies at UC, Santa Barbara, where he earned his Ph.D in Musicology in 2001. He lived in Prague for five years, researching several Czech composers and the history of Czech musical culture. Currently on staff at the Department of Music at Eastern Mediterranean University, he is working on a number of publications concerning the aesthetics of Bohuslav Martinů.
