Summary:
In the first three years of the program, all students take the same departmental courses, but in the fourth year, in order to specialize, the students attend Area Elective courses in either translation or interpreting.
The objective of the specialization in interpreting is to focus on the direct and oral rendering of spoken language. In particular, this specialization provides students with opportunities to develop and refine skills necessary for working at conventions and international conferences, in courtrooms and government offices, etc.
Specialization in translation, on the other hand, primarily deals with written texts. It provides opportunities to enhance competence in translating all manner of specialized and general texts, such as commercial correspondence, books, expert reports, films, brochures, etc.
