Summary:
• Expansion of the harmonic vocabulary, including mixture chords. • Suspensions. • Introduction to musical forms, including binary, ternary and sonata form. • Harmonization of unfigured bass. • Harmonization of a melody. • Identification of motives, thematic structure and simple forms in selected works. • Analysis of selected works, including Bach chorales.

Description:
This course develops further skills acquired in MUSI211. In addition, we shall analyze various musical forms, including binary form, ternary form and sonata form. Throughout, students will be expected to realize figured bass and to harmonize melodies and unfigured bass lines. There will also be an introduction to analysis of selected works, involving the identification of motives and themes, as well as harmonic structure
